THANK YOU FOR THE MUSIC

Pookie just fainted ....

Image Hosted by ImageShack.us Yesterday coming back from my sunday walk in Blogville, I had an idea (not a dream !) : Imagine the followong scene :

I am sitting quietly at my computer, a cup of coffee in one hand the mouse in the other and this way I do my daily visits through Blogworld. One, by one I click to open the blogs, read, comment and click on the next. Outside the sun is shining and the birds are singing.

It is very peaceful around me.

Grandpa sits in his armchair dozing, eyes closed, glasses on the tip of his nose the newspaper open on his knees

Grandma watches TV her favourite cooking show, chewing on her false teeth

Husband lays on the sofa, mouth wide open, snoring happily, hands folded over his chest

Cats are sleeping on the table, on a chair, or elswhere

One child tries to get a puzzle together, the other writes for her homework

and then !!

I take a zip of coffee and click on the next blog. Aaaaaah, loud music fills the room,

- I drop my cup of coffee an ruin my keyboard

- Grandpa falls off his chair and brakes his arm

- Husband wakes up, jumps in the air and falls from the sofa. He brakes his leg

- Grandma screams and spits her false teeth out

- Cats are jumping in the air, hairs up, thick tails . One jumps on the false teeth to get the prey

- Child hits the puzzle and 400 pieces are all around the place, the other scratches out everything she wrote.

The room looks like a mess, husband and grandpa are swearing, grandma looks for her teeth, cats dispatched in all directions, children cry. I am picking up my cup take the mouse and scroll and scroll to click on the stop sign. Why the heck these people don't put their music on the top, if they have to spoil us with it ? Of course I can't find it. Desperately I click on my loudspeaker sign and silence fills the room.

Outside the sun is still shining and the birds are still singing.

Grandpa and husband have to be driven to the hospital

Grandma finally found here teeth and put them in her mouth with shaking hands

Cats are still blown up

Children are crying.

And you know what ? All this happened because a very kind, generous and friendly Blogger just wanted me to listen to his favourite music which he had put in form of "My Tube" on his blog.

I don't want to offend anybody but just show what can happen when suddenly music sounds all over. If you are just besides your sleeping better half, you will get troubles !

where do you find those cartoons.
POP!
I keep my speaker turned down - just for that very reason

Ohhh, I'm glad that's just an imaginary scenario.

It seems that there are fewer bloggers who have music that play automatically on their sites now than several months ago.

Have a great week ahead!

Hi Gattina ~~ This can be a problem all right. When my phone rings and there is music on blogs. It is OK if
they have provision to turn it down or off, but some don't.

Tha market at Brussells sounds terrific. I love markets, but don't get there often these days. I am glad the weather is improving for you. It is cooler here too, happily.
Take care, Love, Merle.

Hi Gattina loved the comment about cat's. We all do know that dogs have masters and cat's have staff don't we?
Cheers Margaret

Amen! Amen! AMEN!!! Like Pamela -- I have started keeping my speakers OFF! Until I need them to be on, I surf in silence! I've been jarred awake by too many noisy blogs!

Okay, I get the hint...I'll move it further up to the top. I forget that not all people like music, especially if it's a surprise. I keep my speakers turned down low anyway. S-o-r-r-y!

I pretty much alway have my MUTE on and only turn it off when I actually want to hear something off the net... which isn't often. Great story, though!

I've a Manic Monday writing up too.

Have a wonderful day.

No, don't be sorry!!! I went in and changed the music to something a little softer - try that for a while - and I turned down the audio. Didn't know I could do that! Thanks for the advice, really :^)

Ahahaha! Fun story Gattina. Love how grandma's teeth popped out.

Oops, I have music on my blog but it doesn't show the controls to give my readers an option to pause or turn it off. I just made changes earlier to show the controls. I also decided to change the music. I'm sure many are tired of hearing the same music again and again.

Thanks for this nice advice.

I agree with you, I agree!!! but it seems the more posts I read against music on blogs, the more blogs decide to add music as background!! I have stopped visiting some because of that and because the music made the page too slow to download...what a pity! Let's all appreciate silence and the quiet surfing experience ...

Sorry :o!
I've turned down the volume from my music from 50 to 5, you can only just hear it now, and I've moved the player a little higher...I hope this helps to prevent chaos in your home :)

Judy did a post on this and I ran back and copied the comment I left over there on her blog. You have to go back about three pages but I think most of us in blogland are feeling the same way. I post music on mondays and some vids once in awhile but you have to click them to load and listen. I don't know why people are not using that feature. If we really want to listen we can find your music player and click play. Having it auto start is optional. grrrrr....

Have I Told You Lately.....
how I feel about music on blogs?

I totally agree with you on the music blog thing. I find it so aggravating. It reminds me of the people who drive around with the car stereos blasting. It gives me the same irk. The worst are the ones where I can't find the button to shut it off. I have removed most of the people who play music from my blogroll because it bothers me THAT much. Many times I forget who has music playing. This is my scenario. It is late. The house is finally quiet. I go to my computer so that I can catch up on my blog reading. I forgot that my speakers are on. I click on a blog and YIKES! The child I finally got to fall asleep is wide awake and screaming. Blog reading is over. *sigh Second scenario. We have a computer room. My husband is on his computer in the same room. He sometimes falls asleep in his chair. I am just quietly here going down the blogroll and YIKES! I can’t shut the speaker off fast enough and it wakes up my hubby. I am offended that I have to remember to my speakers OFF just because I am trying to read a blog. Sometimes I listen to my own music while I am reading. The only music I can listen to while I am reading is my classical play list. It is funny you mention this because yesterday I was thinking I need to put a reminder on my links to remember the ones that have automatic music. I am glad I am not the only one who feels this way.
Have a wonderful day!

I agree... I´m glad this horrible scenario didn´t happen and I have to confess 3 things:

1.) Your very visual story made my giggle because it is so well written.
2.) Giggling combined with CD hurts, but I enjoyed it a lot. =)
3.) It took me 2 days and a very angry fellow blogger to learn how to stop playing the music automatically.

That's hilarious! This happens to me too. I always forget that my son turns the volume up on the computer as loud as it will go, and then I scare the bejeezus out of myself when I click on a blog with music. Keeps me on my toes!!

How very funny, how very well said.. I agree, the music can be a surprise, and like others, I have my speakers OFF - until I want to hear something.

Here is a funny story too - one day I did decide to play some music, it was for my christmas post - and I had it start automatically, but with controls readily visible, cos I hate it when they aren't.

BUT - what I didn't realise (because my own speakers were off) was that the same Christmas Carol kept playing whenever anybody visited for weeks afterwards, long after Christmas day was over and gone... one day I turned my speakers on when I was on my own page, and heard it - funny, nobody had told me - I guess they just thought I was a bit slack?

Fun posts Gattina, thank you, I have had a lovely visit.

All those people should be taken in to room and have all the music from all their blogs played to them at once over and over and over....
