NILE CRUISE & CIBER CRUISE

Pookie enjoys her saturday morning milk !

You are not on the wrong blog, I changed my template !

Tomorrow it's my turn to receive the cruise in Waterloo, and to put me in the right mood I digged out some souvenirs of the Cruise on the Nile we have done in 2002 together with our friends from Madison/Wisc.

I will not talk about all the wonderful historic things we have seen, but about a few happenings on board.

The excursions took place from 6 am (!) till 12 then we returned to the ship because it became very hot (50°C , 122 F) and it was impossible to stay in the sun amongst the ruins. The swimming pool was on the deck but impossible to use. During the day you could prepare fried and scrambled eggs there without any problem.

Here are a few things I remember, where we had a lot of fun.

In the evenings we usually dressed up as "Egyptians" (have never seen such on the street) and went for supper to the dining room where an international buffet was dressed up. Of course not all guests were so silly as we were, most of them were very serious and walked around with historical books (not hysterical) and wanted to explain to everybody who showed himself unoccupied, all the knowlege they had won. Our group thought, visiting in the morning, reading in the afternoon and having fun in the evening was just the right program.

One evening coming back to our cabin I found this "person" in my bed ! The stuarts made it with pillows and towles and put clothes, hats and glasses on it with whatever they could find in the cabine !

One evening we heard an awful screem coming from next door, it was one of our group who found herself just in front of a hanged person ! Her stuart had hanged it up on the ceiling just after the door, so that she got the legs in her face !

Besides these human figures they also made snakes or crokodiles. It was absolutely crazy what they could do with just some pieces of fabric.

Unfortunately five years ago I hadn't discovered photography yet and was running around with my video camera ! I only had a disposable photo camera.

The cruise ships are not very big, for about 80 people because the Nile in some places is not deep at all so it was not so easy to go through without getting stuck in the sand. No danger of drowning !

The "habours" too were very small so that several ships had to lay side by side, sometimes up to 5 ships. I always was happy when we were in the last ship because then you had to go through all the others and that was very interesting.

Here am I in the King's Valley Today already it will be a new experience for me I have never done a Cyber cruise ! The stop is in Norway at

    Niiiiiice change of layout Gattina!

Sounds like you had a fab cruise on the Nile too. I love when they make figures like that, but mostly it use to be flowers or fishes or other stuff. How fun with these bodys - symbolizing Mummys maybe?

Thanks for not breaking the ship bank yesterday, so we can continue to gamble on the cruise....

We had a blast! I went to bed at 05:30 this morning :-)

I'm off dragging people up on deck, no wait, first off to Sanni so she can give a signal with ther wooden dick pipe "All men on deck" in Oslo!

Your really a globe trotter Gattina and you know: you are one of my favorite member of the Lifecruisers Cyber Cruise. You make the whole trip so lively and it's a pleasure to have you as a guest in Oslo with us!

Hahaha! So much fun! I love it! What creative stewards! I wish they were that creative in Sydney. At the Park Hyatt hotel - you could tell they had a "clean & neat" obsessive disorder although the chocolate on the bed was a nice touch. Love the crocodile! Thanks for the laughs!

Ah! I missed this post yesterday! What fun! I would not have been too busy with the learning/reading part of the cruise either! I absorb what I find fascinating - and the heck with the rest of it! I want to travel just to see that beauty that God has placed in OTHER parts! I can read history while sitting in my computer chair! Right?

Those stewards were quite rascally - hanging bodies in some of the cabins! LOL!!!
