To jump or not to jump ? That is the question ! Sometimes I ask myself what would have been my life if I hadn't been "moved" to Belgium ?
I would probably still live in Germany.
According to the mentality of the end fifties concerning a female human , I probably had met a guy in "dancing school". Now I have to explain that every male or female student from 16 years on learned dancing and this was organized from the schools. I don't know if this still exists, but at that time it was of course something wonderful, as boys and girls were strictly separated. and no mixed schools existed. But in "Dancing School" we were allowed to meet each other, and although it was for "dancing" the interest in the opposit sex was much more.
Learning a job or study at University, was very in fashion for a girl, but at the same time considered as useless, because anyway a girl had to marry, then stay at home and raise children So studies for what ? Depending on the social class, some girls had first to go to Housekeeping schools to learn how to dress a table, receiving guests and other stuff, in order to be able to honor her husband.
After that a girl usually found a man, and the once who weren't married at the latest at 25, were considered as "old maids" and had to look for a job. Working women were really something contemptously and not normal and if they were married and working it was even worse as this showed that the man was unable to earn enough money to nurrish his family.
Even writing this now I get furious ! What an opinion about women ! Fortunately that has changed even in Germany which is the country with the less working women in the whole European comunity, (followed by Ireland).
So probably I would have married, follow the herd, woken up, gotten divorced and do my way. The Hippies just started ! But who knows ?
If I had joined them, I would have looked like that girl probably, and one of my partners (peace and love in groups of course) like that and cooked for the whole bunch.
But as I have always loved some comfort and are for peace and love but not in groups, this definitively was not for me .... and fortunately my destiny was completely different.

You could always have moved to Canada and worked all you wanted . We Canadian men like our women to work, ha,ha..
Or move to Sweden, Swedish men like that too and we tend to get burned out from too much work instead ;-)
Are there never something more in the middle? Why exaggerate in any direction...
